Over 22.6 million people in Ethiopia are food insecure due to drought, conflict and increase in food prices. (Source; February 2023 report, United Nations Office for Humanitarian Coordination (UNOCHA)

Poverty and lack of opportunities aggravated by recent conflicts and food insecurities displaced thousands of people in Northern Ethiopia, where the project is located. As a result of which hunger, malnutrition, inadequate health services and displacement prevailed. The Daniel Foundation programs focuses on the most vulnerable communities that target programs for Poor Girls and Poor Boys. Overall needs have shown that these groups urgently seek external assistance to enhancing their coping capacities to prevent nutritional deteriorations, etc

Other programs target communities, on malnourished Women/Mothers who have greatly gone through hardships (hunger, abuse) due to the combined effects of conflicts and food insecurities. They have lost their livelihoods and returning to their home areas means that they must restart their life without/much less support means. Drop-in-Centers (DIC) are projected for survivors of sexual abuse where counselling is undertaken. Some drop-in centers also provide essential services such as meals for poor girls and poor boys but these services are far below the requirement. Active combats have generally ended leading to a peaceful transition but economic and social assets such as livestock, farming, income means, etc have to be rehabilitated in order to bring about normality in the society. Please help us alleviate these serious issues
